In 2018, a group of practicing Advanced Forensic Nurses, who were educating the next generation of forensic nurses, re-imagined the Forensic Nursing Certification Board (FNCB). An offshoot from the Academy of Forensic Nursing, FNCB is a separate and independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the American Board of Nursing Specialty Certification (ABNSC).

The re-imagined Forensic Nursing Certification Board is conformed to the primary purpose of promoting quality trauma-informed person-centered care for patients who experience trauma and/or are intersecting with legal systems.

FNCB thrives on quality and consensus among educators and providers to ensure that forensic nursing certifications meet the ABNSC standards, which opens doors to advancement, increases confidence, and provides a personal sense of accomplishment.
